Back at it again with the Night Drive Type X hatch blog entries my homies! When we left off I was going to source out OEM Type X parts instead of the cough shitty cough fake Hot Road kit. I sourced OEM rear valances and originally got Dorki Dori side skirts, but then I found OEM side skirts for a great price, so I picked those up just in time for paint.

I also threw on my 5Zigen (GoJigen) Pro Racer GN+ wheels to see what they looked like and I loved them. Super period correct to the early 00s.

So the car went out for paint. It wasn’t a super detailed paint shop. For example, I didn’t have the door jambs nor the engine bay painted. But the glass was removed which was great and most seals were replaced.

About a week later, I went to pick her up with a fresh layer of Nissan Super Black paint.

Yeah, it rained on the way home that day, shout out Florida. Now it was time to add all the painted pieces and make this the Type X it was meant to be :)

New Paint / New Wheels

Picked up some TE37 Sagas in 17/18. In an earlier blog post I touched on the subject of my favorite wheels. Rays Engineering/Volk Racing Touring Evolution 37s.

The year was 2002 and I was a young 19 year old punk. At the time, I had my first 240SX so I was really getting into Nissans. When in comes the Super Street February 2002 issue. At first I didn’t care for it much, just wanted to see what cars were featured that month, the Top Fuel RSX graced the front cover, but there was another car featured in that magazine that would forever change my car life. The car you see above, the Signal Auto Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R.

Idk what it was that captivated me so much about this car, maybe it was the KFC logo with the Katakana, or the Midnight Purple with the red contrasting side vinyl. It was none of that.

It was the white Volk Racing/Rays Engineering TE37

I remember this ad from back in the day, if you got a chance to see it in a magazine, it actually spread out into a poster that I taped to my wall as a kid. The perfect complement of Bayside Blue & Bronze TE37s.

The preparation started, because literally the week that I got the car back from paint I was going to attend a private track day with some friends, more on Part 5 of the build. Stay tuned ;)
