It’s been a while, but let’s keep this going for 2020. This is part 5 of the Night Drive Type X build, that as of now is like 8 months behind. Per my last entry I had just gotten the car painted and was getting ready to do a private day at our local track (that’s not longer open).

Even though I’ve been into drifting and s-chassis for a long time, this was my first track day. I’ve photographed plenty of drift events back in the day, but never took part in any driving. I had literally finished putting it together the night before and then drove it to a track day the morning after lol.

Met up with my homie Mark of Garage Emperor who had just finished putting his car back together as well. Took some cool gas station pics of the cars, and then we headed off.

I was rusty, it was the first time I’d attempted to drift in like 6-7 years, the last time was back in 2013 and it was just street sliding around our local spot. So I pretty much sucked the entire time. On top of that I was being super aware of the car since I had just gotten it out of the paint shop and I really didn’t want to damage it in anyway.

I was nervous, I was rusty, car wasn’t setup properly, so I was pretty much spinning out 90% of the time.

But damn this thing looked good :) lol. I had a little mishap towards the end of the day, it was actually on my last run. I decided to change up the front wheels which were a bit too aggressive and they didn’t have a good time with the front fender. As you can see below.

BUT! Back home in One Piece

Successful event when you get to go have fun with friends and drive the car back home with no issues. At this time, I was actually daily driving this car since my daily was down.

Big update happened after this, part 6 of the build coming soon.
